Chuck-will's-widow (Caprimulgus carolinensis) nesting among leaves on the ground. The largest of the nightjar family, these birds have been known, when threatened, to carry their eggs away in their mouths. While most birds perch sitting crosswise on a limb, Chuck-will's-widows sit lengthwise.
