CALENDULA Officinalis L.; family of the Compositae. It has sudorative; anti-inflammatory healing; antiseptic properties. The leaves and the flowers are used for instilled; or for internal use only or external; so like as decoctions or of ointments. It grows of preference in Mediterranean climate; where it can be found in the fields. The leaves and the flowers are collected in late spring and summer. Photography of Elena Piccini; 2004.
