Cacops and Casea tetrapods, illustration. Cacops (foreground) was an amphibian, an armoured predator. Casea (background) was a herbivorous synapsid, feeding on plants such as ferns. It was also adapted for an aquatic lifestyle. Both animals existed during the Early Permian, around 274 million years ago.
