Light microscopy of human skin. Black stained material is elastic fibres which confer elasticity for an organ that is subject to stretching. Elastic fibres occupy the upper dermis just below the surface epidermis of variable thickness. Two hair follicles are seen. Sweat glands lower centre and sebaceous glands upper right.
