Gastric bypass surgery. This surgery, used to treat obesity, involves reducing the size of the patient's stomach to make the patient feel full after eating less food. The surgery also involves reconstructing the intestines to reduce the amount of food absorbed by the patient. There are several types of gastric bypass surgery. This one is being carried out using laparoscopic instruments inserted into the abdomen. Here, part of the stomach has been removed through one of the holes made in the abdominal wall.
