Assassin bug attacking giant millipede. Giant african millipede (Archispirostreptus gigas) being killed by an assassin bug. Giant African millipedes are one of the largest millipedes, growing up to 38.5 centimetres in length, and 67 millimetres in circumference. Assassin bugs (family Reduviidae) are predatory insects that use their long rostrum (feeding tube) to inject a lethal saliva into their prey, which liquefies the prey's insides so they can be sucked out. Photographed in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
