The labels are in Latin: width (latitudo), length (longitudo) and depth (profunditas). The ends of each rod are also labelled: to the right (dextrorsum), to the left (sinistrorsum), upwards (sursum), downwards (deorsum), backwards (retrorsum) and forwards (antrorsum). This artwork is from 'Aepitoma omnis phylosophiae' (1504) by the German author Georg Reisch (c.1467-1525). This work is better known as 'Margarita philosophica' and was first published in 1503.
