HD 107146 dust disc, Hubble Space Telescope image. HD 107146 is a Sun-like star around 88 light years from Earth. The disc is seen face on, and has a distinct central hole. This may be due to planets having been formed from the inner disc material. The gravity of any planets formed in this region would then sweep the area clear of remaining dust. This image was taken by the Advanced Camera for Surveys on the HST in 2004.
