Virtual eye surgery. A researcher wearing a Virtual Reality (VR) headset practises eye surgery. The use of the VR system allows surgeons to practice technique or to teach students, both without the need to use a live patient. This system uses a joystick for movement control, but may later use a data glove for more precise control. The VR system allows the procedure to be viewed from any angle, many of which are not visible with a live patient. Photographed at the Human Interface Technology Laboratory of the University of Washington, USA.
