Image processing. A member of the Voyager Mission imaging team processes data from the Voyager 2 spacecraft to produce a full-colour image of the planet Neptune. The picture shows the planet's Great Dark Spot. The woman is working in the Multimission Image Processing Laboratory of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. Launched in 1977, the two Voyager craft acquired tens of thousands of images & a vast amount of scientific data from close encounters with Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune & their satellites. Computer image processing was a vital element in the production of the spectacular Voyager images. Woman's name is DANETTE KLEIN. Photo taken August 1989 during Neptune encounter.
