Adrenal tumour. Light micrograph of a section through a corticosuprarenaloma from adrenal gland tissue. This is a tumour of the cortex (outermost layer) of the adrenal gland. Numerous cells, some with visible nuclei, are seen here. The adrenal glands are found on the kidneys, hence the name of suprarenal. The adrenal glands secrete hormones to control body metabolism, the most important being adrenaline. Surgical removal of the adrenal gland may be required, followed by hormone replacement drugs.
