Grigory Zinoviev (1883-1936), prominent member of the Russian Communist Party. Charged with forming a terrorist group to eliminate Stalin, he was found guilty and executed. Zinoviev Letter: In October 1924 British Intelligence (MI5) interrupted a letter, supposedly from Zinoviev, inciting British Communists to commit acts of sedition to further Revolution. In 1999 the British Foreign Office concluded it was a forgery aimed at embarrassing Labour (Socialist) Ramsay Macdonald's government.
