George Joachim Goschen (1831-1907), lst Viscount Goschen, English businessman and statesman born in London. Appointed a director of the Bank of England in 1856. First elected to Parliament in 1863 as Liberal Member for the City of London. Held a variety of ministerial positions, including that of Chancellor of the Exchequer (1887-1892).
