The lacrimal ducts (lacrimal canalicul, right corner of the eye) then carry the fluid to the naso-lacrimal duct (vertical, far right), which conveys it to the nasal cavity. Tears are a salty antiseptic solution which cleans and moistens the eye, preventing infection and damage.
