Magnetic therapy for depression. Patient undergoing transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment for severe depression. TMS uses localised pulses of magnetic energy to stimulate increased activity in the left frontal lobe, the area of the brain associated with mood disorders. The 'glasses' are used to help ensure the precise positioning of the patient's head, which can be seen on the computer screen. Photographed at the Henri Mondor hospital, Creteil, Paris, France.
