Stinking iris (Iris foetidissima) bud. This p;ant is found in open woodland, hedge banks and on sea-cliffs. It produces delicate, pale lilac flowers and bright orange berries in Autumn. It is known as stinking because some find the smell of its leaves unpleasant when crushed. Photographed in Dorset, UK.
