Rose Chafer (Cetonia aurata), or green rose chafer, a member of the Scarabaeidae family. The metallic green colour is created structurally by the reflections of polarised light. The adults are strong flyers and feed on pollen and nectar. The larvae develop underground and emerge the following spring. Rose chafers are found widely across the southern UK and in southern and central Europe. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in July.
