Such a large proportion of the transport in Yokahama had been rendered unserviceable by Allied air attacks that the remaining cars were overtaxed to transport the population. Both trams and trains were running when the Allies entered Yokahama, but other forms of transportation were primitive. Vehicles supplied by the Japanese for the Allied Forces had been badly serviced and were nearly all worn out. September 10, 1945. (Photo by Australian Official Photo).
