This image of spiral galaxy NGC 4981 was captured by the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. The galaxy resides over 75 million light-years away in the constellation of Virgo. NGC 4981 was discovered on April 17, 1784 by William Herschel.
