Nevada Solar One, located in Mojave desert near Las Vegas, Nevada, has a power generating capacity of 64 MW. It is owned by the Spanish conglomerate Acciona Energy. Nevada Solar One went online for commercial use on June 27, 2007 and is the first major solar power plant built in the US in 16 years, since the SEGS were commissioned in California. Nevada Solar One uses the parabolic trough solar thermal technology, similar to the SEGS, but is more efficient.
