Sir Richard Arkwright (1732 - 1792 ) Arkwright is considered the father of the modern industrial factory system ; his inventions were a catalyst for the Industrial Revolution . He was an Englishman who is usually credited for inventing the spinning frame , later renamed the water frame following the transition to water power . His mechanical abilities and, above all, his genius for organization made him more than anyone else , the creator of the modern factory system.
