Mongolian astrology. 19th-century charts and diagrams used by Mongolian astrologers to predict zodiacal energies and eclipses. Charts show force and power energies in the form of Garuda (centre left), a half-bird and half-human figure. The figures on the humanoid chart at far left are used to calculate the movements of Saturn and its influence on bones, ribs and nerves at the centre of the male body. The face chart at right is for Rahu, the south lunar node, or the solar eclipse. Hindu and Buddhist astrologers calculated eclipses using charts such as this. This manuscript follows the Tibetan Kalachakra Tantra tradition, dating from 1024.
