Intravenous drip. Close-up of the valve for an intravenous drip bag. A drip is used to administer fluids through tubes to a patient. The bags may contain saline, which is used to replace body fluids in dehydrated patients, or drugs. The bags are hung on a stand to allow gravity to provide the pressure to keep the fluids flowing into the patient. Photographed in a UK hospital in 2014.
