Low water levels in Lake Powell at the Glen Canyon Dam, Arizona , USA. This concrete arch dam lies on the Colorado River and was built to provide hydroelectricity and flow regulation from the upper Colorado River Basin to the lower. Lake Powell (left) is the dam's reservoir, and is the second largest artificial lake in the country. Due to years of drought, the levels of the Lake Powell reservoir are low, indicated by the exposed areas of white rock. Photographed in May 2014.
