Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the brain of a 48 year old woman six and 48 hours after a stroke (white) or cerebrovascular accident (CVA). A stroke is where the brain is damaged by hypoxia (lack of oxygen) due to an interruption of, or other damage to, the blood supply. This patient made a poor recovery from the stroke.
