Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the brain of a 57 year old man five hours and 30 days after a stroke (white area on five hour scan) or cerebrovascular accident (CVA). A stroke is where the brain is damaged by hypoxia (lack of oxygen) due to an interruption of, or other damage to, the blood supply. This patient made a good recovery from the stroke.
