Microsporum audouinii fungi, computer illustration. This anthropophilic dermatophyte fungus causes infections of the scalp (tinea capitis) and body (tinea corporis), mainly in children but also in adults. M. audouinii has septate hyphae with terminal chlamydoconidia often pointed at one end. Also shown are racquet hyphae and occasional microconidia.
