Within Chumphon Province the best and most popular beach is at Hat Thung Wua Laen, about 16km (10 miles) south of Pathiu District and a similar distance north of Chumphon town.

Hat Thung Wua Laen is a long stretch of white sand beach, gently sloping to the waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Chiefly popular with local Thai tourists, it is nevertheless drawing more overseas visitors for it lack of crowding, reasonable prices, authentic Thai food and for its authentically Thai atmosphere.

Hat Thung Wua Laen also has the best snorkeling off Chumphon Province, with coral reefs supporting sea fans, marine sponges and shoals of brightly-colored tropical fish.
