Impetigo and oral herpes. Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection caused by Staphylococcus species. It causes the formation of pustules that contain fluid filled with bacteria. The infection is highly contagious. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs. Oral herpes is caused by exposure to herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) and is usually acquired through a break in the skin. Treatment is with antiviral drugs.
