Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment high-granularity calorimeter (HGCAL) upgrade at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). This is necessary to maintain excellent calorimetric performance in the endcaps during High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) operations. In a clean room laboratory, scientists characterise 8-inch wafer-scale multi-pad silicon sensors for the CMS Calorimeter Endcap (CE) upgrade, using the HGCAL concept. They cover various silicon sensor designs, including high and low density layouts as as well as full and partial sensors.
