Ceremony for the signing of the Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) joint flight readiness review on 22nd May 1975, at the Academy of Sciences, Moscow, USSR. Acting President of the USSR Academy of Sciences Vladimir A. Kotelnikov (left) and NASA Deputy Administrator George M. Low (centre) are signing the ASTP document. The ASTP mission was the first joint international crewed space-flight. It took place from 15-24th July 1975. A Soviet Soyuz 19 and American Apollo CSM-111 spacecraft docked in orbit on 17th July to test a jointly-designed international docking mechanism.
