Recklinghausen's disease. Freckling in the armpit, known as Crowe sign, of a 22 year old Hispanic female patient with Recklinghausen's disease, or neurofibromatosis type 1. Neurofibromatosis causes neurofibromas, benign (non-cancerous) tumours of nervous and connective tissue, to form. The tumours usually form on the skin, but they can also be located inside the body.
