Das nach dem franzosischen bille (Kugel; Ball) genannte Billardspiel war im 18 Jahrhundert von Frankreich nach Deutschland gekommen als grosse Neuigkeit; der man sich in geschlossenen Zirkeln mit Eifer widmete. In der Hitze des Spiels zogen die Spieler oft den Uberrock aus; damit man die damals neu aufgekommenen sog Hosenheber richtig bewundern konnte. Translation: Billiard Game.
