Translation: Chinese Pavilion. The 18th century had a fondness for China and its art. Objects of daily use; furniture; fabrics; porcelain and wallpaper were decorated with Chinese figures; dragons and pagodas. These were so popular that they were also implemented architecturally; and there were hardly any princes in Germany who did not have a so-called Chinese pavilion in their palace gardens. Illustration for Deutsche Kulturbilder; 1400-1900 (Cigaretten-Bilderdienst Hamburg-Bahrenfeld; 1934).
