Illustration depicting the European Space Agencys (ESA) ATV-5 (Automated Transfer Vehicle) undergo a destructive atmospheric re-entry to Earth. ATV-5 was an uncrewed cargo spacecraft that launched from the ESAs Spaceport in French Guiana on 29 July 2014. ATV-5 supplied the International Space Station (ISS) with 6.6 tonnes of food, water, fuel, clothes, and experimental hardware. It was the fifth and final ATV to be built and launched. After approximately six months as part of the Station, ATV-5 intentionally re-entered over a remote part of the Pacific Ocean to burn up harmlessly.
