The malignant colonic tumour cells are arranged in irregular glandular structures (darker blue-purple) within a desmoplastic stroma (lighter blue-pink background). Desmoplasia represents tissue reaction to the abnormal cancer cells. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 100x when printed at 10 centimetres.
