Cimon takes Command of the Greek Fleet. On Aristides' retirement from the active command of the allied Greek fleet he was succeeded by Cimon; the son of Miltiades; a young noble of exceptional talent. Cimon is here represented as joining the fleet before his expedition in BC 468; in the course of which he twice defeated the Persians; by sea and land; at Eurymedon.
