Masquerade at the Skating Rink, Montreal, 1870. The citizens of Montreal, as well as of Ottawa, have exerted themselves to do honour to Prince Arthur since he has been in Canada. During the last week of March a fancy-dress entertainment was given by the Victoria Skating Rink on the ice at night. This being the last entertainment of the kind for the season, the costumes were more choice than on any previous occasion, and the ball was more numerously attended. At an early hour the Prince made his appearance on the ice, attended by several gentlemen. It need hardly be said that he met with a most cordial welcome. He was dressed in the costume of a cavalier of the time of Charles II.. From "Illustrated London News", 1870.
