Railway Hotel, Upper Richmond Road, Putney, Wandsworth, Greater London Authority, 1880. The crossroads of Putney High Street (foreground), Putney Hill (left) and Upper Richmond Road (directly ahead) with the old Railway Hotel in the right foreground and the Fox and Hounds Hotel on Upper Richmond Road in the centre of the frame. The Railway Hotel dated from1857 but was demolished and rebuilt in its current form in the late 1880s. With the exception of the Fox and Hounds Hotel, all the buildings visible at the corner of Putney Hill and Upper Richmond Road have been demolished to allow for road widening. This photograph appears in 'William Fields's Photographs of Putney', compiled by Dorian Gerhold and Michael Bull for the Wandsworth Historical Society.
