Charles VII of France (1403-1461) did not immediately succeed his father, remaining the dauphin and ruling over what parts of France remained to him. In 1429, Joan of Arc (pictured here at right) encouraged him to fight for his rights and then had him crowned king at Rheims (pictured here) on July 17, 1429. This tapestry was completed around 1640 and hung in the Chateau dEspanel.
