McClures Arctic expedition in HMS Investigator 1850-1854 when he was credited with the discovery of the North West Passage. McClure; whose party was in great distress; unexpectedly meetng up with Lieutenant Pim of HMS Resolute. Relief was at hand. Robert John le Mesurier McClure (1807-1873) Irish-born British explorer.
