Crusted scabies infection on the feet and ankles of a female Hispanic patient who is undergoing chemotherapy for thyroid cancer. Scabies is caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei, which tunnels under the skin, laying eggs, and causing intense itching. When large encrustations appear, it is known as crusted or Norwegian scabies.
