Los Angeles Hikers, N.Y., 12/30/13, W.A. Clarkson, Mrs. Mabel Ackerman, Carrie Van Gaasbeck and A.A. Berger, 1913. Tuberculosis survivors who hiked from Los Angeles to Washington DC to deliver a letter asking President Wilson for research on tuberculosis treatments and cures. The hiking, in winter, was part of the demonstration that they were, indeed, cured of TB.
