Mason and Co., of ...Dr. John Jackson, late Bishop of Lincoln, who has been appointed successor of the new Archbishop of Canterbury...in the see of London...In 1836 he was chosen Head Master of the Proprietary School at Islington in connection with Kings College. This post he held, discharging its duties most efficiently, in conjunction with those of the incumbency of St. Jamess, Muswell-Hill, near Highgate, until 1846. He was then nominated by the Crown...to the important Rectory of St. Jamess, Piccadilly, within which parish Buckingham Palace is supposed to be included. In the following year he was appointed one of the Chaplains in Ordinary to the Queen. He became one of the Canons of Bristol in 1852. In 1853 he was chosen to preach the "Boyle Lectures," and shortly afterwards...was nominated by the Earl of Aberdeen to the see of Lincoln, which he has held to the present-time. In 1845, and again in 1850, he was appointed one of the select preachers before the University of Oxford. He is the author of several published sermons and charges, and of a popular little treatise of practical religion, entitled "The Sinfulness of Little Sins". From "Illustrated London News", 1869.
