Sailing-match of the Royal Thames Yacht Club, 1868. The match ...was contended for by five vessels - namely, the Cambria, of 186 tons, owned by Mr. J. Ashbury; the Egeria, 143 tons, Mr. J. Mulholland; the Gloriana, 129 tons, Mr. A. O. Wilkinson; the Julia, 109 tons, Mr. G. E. Moss; and the Astarte, 75 tons, Mr. W. Battersby. The three first-mentioned vessels are schooners; the two last are yawls, and were formerly both cutter-rigged. The prize was the Royal London cup, value ?100. The course...was from Gravesend to the Nore Light and back...The prize was won by the Egeria, which accomplished the distance in 5 hours. 48 minutes 35 seconds. From "Illustrated London News", 1868.
