Mercury seen from the BepiColombo spacecraft as it flew by on 19 June 2023. This was during the third gravity assist manoeuvre using Mercury and the sixth of nine total planetary flybys which will eventually allow BepiColombo to enter Mercurys orbit in 2025. This spacecraft is comprised of the Mercury Transfer Module (MTM) for thrust and two satellites: the Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO) and the Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter (MMO). They will both orbit Mercury to study its core, surface, magnetic field and exosphere. The aim is to better understand the origin and evolution of planets close to their parent stars. Photographed by BepiColombo?™s monitoring camera (M-CAM) 3.
