Cyclone Midili formed over the central Bay of Bengal and started moving northeast toward eastern India and southern Bangladesh before making landfall on 17 November 2023. Cyclone activity in the Bay of Bengal is relatively high in November. Bangladesh has been significantly impacted by cyclones in recent decades, with the number of superstorms hitting its densely populated coast increasing sharply due to the impact of climate change.
