Pelvis of an adult of the species Homo heidelbergensis. This species of archaic human lived in Africa and Europe during the middle Pleistocene (c.770,000-126,000 years ago). It is believed that this was the first species of human that constructed shelters. This pelvis was found in the Atapuerca Archaeological Site, Spain.
