Variscite necklace found in excavations around the Gava variscite mines which were active between 4200 and 3400 BCE (Neolithic period) in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Variscite is a semi-precious green mineral that was used to craft jewellery such as this and was traded across the western Mediterranean.
