Comet C/2019 L3 (ATLAS)(centre-left, white glow), photographed on 7 January 2022. Comets are collections of dust and ice that orbit the Sun. As they near the Sun and are warmed they release gas (outgassing) that forms the tail. This comet was discovered by the Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) on 10 June 2019.
